Reopened in Nov 2025 by the team behind The Myrtle Tavern in Meanwood, this is a place trying hard to re-establish itself after the pub attracted poor reviews before they took it over. The welcome from Kyle, Scott and the team was friendly, the service brisk and the place very busy. On this wet, foggy, Sunday lunchtime in January we were greeted by a fine makeover. Proper traditional decor with many local pictures, a fire burning and the place buzzing. This was no wonder as of 240 covers available for service in this rural inn nearly all were pre-booked. We ordered drinks. A half of Cruz Campo lager was £3.35. I had a glass of iced tap water which came with a slice of lemon and a straw. Hand-pulled beers included Black Sheep and Timi Taylors Golden Best. Our food order was taken. Less than 15 minutes later, we were served with our sirloin of beef and roast pork. The speed with which this was done suggests a good deal of pre-preparation in the kitchen. This is no bad thing and the meal was good, but it could have been warmer, which suggests some re-heating of pre-cooked food to speed up the process. I loved the crackling with the pork which was hidden in the Yorkshire. Crispy and correct. Never serve pork without it. Portions of certain items like the mash and veg were smaller than expected. Also a spoon could have been provided with the bowl of vegetables. I was pleased to taste the gravy was not too salty, but the option of having it in a seperate jug or gravy boat would have been a pleasant addition. Our bill came to £43.85. On the way out I checked the Mens toilet to see the state of cleanliness as this always the gauge of a venue. It was fine, although early in the day. There were some nice touches to show they were paying attention. We will hopefully return (if local MP Rachel Reeves' business rates don't sink it first). Recommended.

Visited after a morning walk for lunch and had a wonderful time!! So cosy and welcoming, a lovely country pub with a good atmosphere and great menu. We were spoilt for choice with the main menu and lunch menu. Homemade soup and focaccia were delicious, as were the lamb koftas and beef lasagne. Highly recommend! Booked using their booking system which was easy to follow and accessible

Honestly one of the best Sunday dinners we've had! Visited The New Inn in Eccup and everything was spot on from start to finish. Esmee was amazing - so friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. The Sunday dinner was unreal - generous portions, full of flavour, and cooked perfectly. You can tell a lot of care goes into the food. Brilliant atmosphere, fantastic service, and incredible food. Can't wait to come back - highly recommend!

A brilliant countryside pub in a beautiful setting by the reservoir. We went for a walk around the water first, which was really peaceful, then headed to the New Inn for Sunday lunch. The food was excellent – well cooked, generous portions, and full of flavour. The pub itself is warm and welcoming, with a proper traditional feel, and the staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing. It’s the perfect spot to stop after a walk and relax. Would highly recommend and will definitely be returning.

Came for Sunday Lunch and was not disappointed. The atmosphere was lovely and cozy with a nice fire in the pub area. Staff were lovely and friendly willing to go the extra mile. The food was absolutely delicious as you can only imagine from the photos below we had the turkey Sunday dinner and on a separate occasion tried the breaded french brie from the festive menu. If you’re looking for a scenic spot with a friendly, welcoming atmosphere then this is perfect. Would highly recommend!

This is the perfect country pub, complete with a cosy atmosphere, friendly staff and a great selection of reasonably priced drinks. We got a prime spot by the roaring fire and were very sad to have to leave. Would be lovely for a date night or a little drive out on a chilly day.

Me and partner went here for a meal and was not disappointed. The pub has a lovely open fire and such cute Christmas decorations on the tree. I had the steak and it was cooked to perfection. The portion size is great and the chunky chips were delicious. Can't wait to sit in the beer garden in the summer with the amazing views. All.the staff are welcoming and friendly. And loved that we could take our dog.

Friends and us enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch here yesterday. My friend booked online which was easy to do. It was very busy so booking is definitely recommended. We sat more in the dining area as opposed to the pub itself. Because it was so busy the noise level was quite high if that matters to you. I know for instance that people with hearing aids might although I would think it’s possible to ask for a quieter table in the pub area. We took our drinks there to sit after our meal as the tables were booked for two hour slots and we’d not finished our coffees/drinks. The food was delish…tasty, well presented and just focused on Sunday roasts (nut roasts for veggies) which I tend to think is a good thing as the focus is on quality rather than quantity of choice. I forgot to take a pic of the veg which came separately but there was a good choice: cabbage, red cabbage, broccoli and carrots. We ordered creamed leeks as an extra and they were gorgeous too. Service was also top notch and despite a minor mix up with our drinks, it was rectified. Lovely to see this lovely pub doing so well.
